Panel: Afghanistan — Alternatives for Economic Recovery
The current state of economic limbo in Afghanistan has exacerbated the already dire humanitarian conditions for Afghans who are now struggling with unemployment, economic uncertainty and a potential complete collapse of public service institutions that were built with the help of the international community over the last 20 years.
This panel of experts will discuss the current economic crises and the resulting humanitarian emergency, and various options that could help avert a total collapse of the Afghan economy.
Panel: Afghan Refugee Resettlement
We are pleased to join Professor Amy Malek and other community members on January 31 for this important discussion at College of Charlestone in South Carolina. The resettlement of Afghans is a process that will undoubtedly lead to communities across America — certainly in every state — having the opportunity to welcome new members and to help integrate them. It’s our hope that creating space for these sorts of discussions in places that haven’t traditionally had a substantial Afghan-American presence will ensure greater depth of understanding and perhaps even excitement about the prospect of having a role in weaving the fabric of America.
