Afghan-American Foundation Calls on New Administration to Protect Afghan-American Rights and Support Afghan Allies

Washington, D.C., November 7, 2024 - The Afghan American Foundation (AAF) stands firm in its mission to champion the Afghan-American community, particularly at this pivotal moment in our nation's history. As new leadership transitions under President-Elect Trump, AAF reaffirms its commitment to elevating the voices and concerns of Afghan Americans and addressing the unique challenges we face.

With each change in government comes an opportunity to advocate for the rights, safety, and prosperity of our community. AAF is focused on ensuring Afghan-American priorities remain central, underscoring that America's commitments to Afghans transcend partisanship. We continue to push for protections and meaningful policies that honor the contributions and needs of Afghan Americans, as well as the safety and security of America's Afghan allies - both those who have made the United States home and those still searching for safety.

We call upon the incoming administration to renew its commitment to Afghan allies who supported U.S. efforts. This includes prioritizing the relocation of Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) recipients and supporting the passage of the Afghan Adjustment Act, to provide stable futures for resettled Afghans. We expect continued federal support and protections for those who await permanent status in the United States.

AAF will also continue urging policymakers to press the Taliban to end its oppressive restrictions on Afghan women and girls, advocating for their fundamental rights to education, employment, and freedom.

As a non-partisan organization, AAF remains resolute in advancing Afghan-American interests with resilience and purpose. We encourage community members to stay active in advocacy, uphold Afghan-American rights, and engage in shaping a future where our voices and values are recognized and respected.
